Health: The Benefits of Yoga!

Please complete this mini-assignment for homework over the weekend:
1. What is yoga? What does the word mean?
2. Where did yoga originate and who were the first people to use it?
3. Who can practice yoga?
4. How can yoga improve your mental health?
5. How can yoga improve your physical health?
6. What is a mantra? Create one on your own to help you achieve a simple goal.
7. Why do you think it is important to recognize the link between your body and your mind?
This was our "Self Control" experiment from earlier this year. Students were challenged to remain still while lying on a piece of chart paper inside the outline of their body. The students were then asked what strategies they used to concentrate and how they felt about staying still for so long. The class eventually made it to 20 minutes of complete silence and stillness with practice!
